Service members and their families face a different set of issues due to the unique lifestyle that military service brings. Along with PTSD, service members and families face issues including depression, anxiety, isolation, social supports, and problems relating to one another.

Pre-depolyment and post-deployment can be as stressful as when the service member is deployed.

Changing stations and moving can be very difficult and bring out feelings, such as anger or grief in any member of the family.

It can be hard to create stable relationships, social supports, or even employment when you are moving often or feel isolated from others because they do not understand military life.

We can help make these transitions easier for you and your family.

Forward Counseling accepts Veterans Choice coverage through TriWest and we are in network with Tricare. Veterans Choice Coverage is offered to Veterans who have been placed on a wait-list from their VA or live more than 40 miles from a VA hospital.

You can find out more information about the Veterans Choice program by going here.

We work with Veterans and their families on a variety of issues related to deployment, stress, PTSD/Trauma, and relocation. We offer groups, individual sessions, couples sessions, and family sessions tailored to fit the unique needs of service members.

Are you worried about how attending therapy might affect your military career? You have options outside of VA benefits. We can help you determine the best way to go about it.

TRAUMA GROUP FOR ADULTS

TRAUMA GROUP: At Forward Counseling we believe in the resiliency of the human spirit, but we also understand that our clients are busy people that must continue to function. We address trauma SLOWLY, CAREFULLY, & MINDFULLY. In order to register for Trauma Group, each client must be engaged with an individual therapist. We teach coping skills, mindfulness, and approach trauma from a distance with art and imagination before we use words to describe trauma. This approach appears to reduce abreaction and other side effects associated with trauma therapy. We also address disassociation in all of Forward Counseling trauma groups.
